Simple M&M Cookie Bars

Simple and chewy M&M Cookie Bars that'll satisfy that sweet tooth!

Ingredients

  • 2 1⁄2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 1⁄2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1⁄2 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1⁄2 cups mini M&M’s
  • 1⁄2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter by placing the unsalted sticks of butter into a stainless steel skillet and melting over medium low heat, stirring constantly. The butter is ready when you see golden brown flecks along the bottom of the pan.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking dish with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a smaller bowl, add the slightly cooled browned butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Whisk together until combined.
  5. Then add the eggs and vanilla. Whisk again until smooth.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and fold together with a rubber spatula until 
incorporated. The dough should be thick.
  7. Add the chocolate chips and mini M&M's. Fold into the dough until evenly distributed.
  8. Transfer the dough into the prepared baking dish. Press into the dish, spreading evenly.
  9. Bake in the oven for about 24 minutes or until the top has become crusted.
  10. As soon as you remove from the oven, top with extra mini M&M's and slightly press into 
the top of the warm cookie bars.
  11. Let cool for at least 15 minutes. before cutting into squares and serving.
  12. Serve and store any leftovers in an airtight container.
