These homemade corn dogs are perfect for when you miss your favorite theme park corn dogs! They're simple and quick, plus freezer-friendly!

  • Total Time: 39 minutes
  • Yield: 8 corn dogs 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack all beef hotdogs
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. corn meal
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tbsp. shortening, melted
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 c. oil
  • 8 skewers

Instructions

    1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, corn meal, sugar and baking powder.
    2. Add egg, melted shortening and milk. Mix until smooth batter forms.
    3. In a deep pot, add oil and heat to 350°F. A candy thermometer works great to regulate the temperature.
    4. Pour batter into a tall cup.
    5. Skewer the hotdogs and dip into the batter.
    6. Place the battered hotdog in the hot oil spinning it as it drops. Fry until crust is golden brown. Rotate the corn dog to cook all sides evenly.
    7. Let cool and enjoy.
