  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Crushed root beer flavored candy
  • 1 box instant french vanilla pudding
  • 4 cups whipping cream

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Butter the bottom of a 9-inch by 13-inch pan.
  3. With an electric mixer, mix together cake mix, root beer, melted butter, and egg whites for two minutes and beat on high for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Reserve 1 cup of the batter.
  5. Pour the remaining batter into the prepared baking pan.
  6. In the reserved batter, mix in the allspice and the cinnamon.
  7. Drop mounds of spiced batter into pan, and swirl using a toothpick.
  8. Bake until cake begins to separate from the sides of the pan, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 28 to 30 minutes
  9. While cake is baking, make French vanilla instant pudding according to package directions and set aside.
  10. Beat whipping cream until soft peaks form and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until consistency of whipped cream.
  11. Gently, fold in half of the prepared whipped cream into the pudding.
  12. Once cake is baked and cooled, crumble cake into tiny, almost diced, pieces.
  13. Sprinkle cake into the bottom of 12 glass mugs that you’ll be serving the parfaits in.
  14. Spoon pudding on top of crumbled cake, then add a layer of pudding, then a layer of homemade whipped cream, and then a layer of crushed root beer candy.
  15. Repeat until glass is full.
  16. Place in freezer 10 minutes before serving so dessert is served in a frosted glass.
